Opensauce 2023 - Soccerbot Exibit!
CZCMacroRobotics is a small open source engineering and design partnership. Our goal is to make it easier to just have fun with basic microcontrollers by making little boards that reduce the work of creating circuits so that people can spend more time enjoying their creations.
Our first creation is the Swoloboard, inspired by the Soccerbot competition of the California State Polytechnic University Pomona's Robotics Club.
Swoloboard is an Arduino compatible shield (we might make a full Arduino compatible board in future revisions). We will be uploading the firmware, some basic designs, and board schematics so that anyone can look at them. We will ask that you do not resell our designs but feel free to implement or use them for personal or offshot projects.
The first use of Swoloboard will be to create Soccerbots! Which is a friendly game of soccer between Soccertbots remotely controlled by the players. Soccerbots are small (for the most part car-like) robots which are built and remote controlled by a team. For anyone that wants to set up their own tournament, we will be posting the original rules on this website soon.
This board was used by our team to help create an opensauce soccerbot exhibit for the 2023 event. The V1 boards tested very well and managed to last for 3 days and well over 8 hours per day. This surpassed expectation as overheating and physical strain were not an issue during this time. The chassis and motors broke well before the actual board and we are addressing the physical limitations of the chassis for the next event.
